The second student exchange took place in Latvia, on 11-15/02/2019. Our new sports project is going on! This time, teachers and students from all five partner schools met at the Latvian partner´s school – at Madonas Valsts gimnazija. During the 5 days we observed P.E. lessons focused on crosscountry skiing. We learnt how to do crosscountry skiing with the correct technique. The exchange took place mainly at the school and the local sports center. Madonas Valsts gimnazija uses this centre for trainings and sports courses. We also participated in P.E. classes and together with chosen Latvian students and other participants of the project we played basketball and volleyball. Teachers observed lessons with students lead by both P.E. teachers and professional trainers. Parts of the project were tours around the historic centre of Riga and Madona, too. In the capital city of Riga we visited the National Sports Museum, the oldest Building of Three Brothers, Saint Peter’s Church, Liberty Monument, the Building of the Brotherhood of Blackheads, Saint James’ Church, University of Music and the Castle of the President. In Madona we were shown their speciality – the manufacture of sweets where students could make their own lollipops and taste handmade sweets. During the week we saw several performances of the students from the local school (national dances, singing, aerobics, …). On Friday the final evaluation of the week was carried out, we also planned the details of the next student exchange focusing on canoeing in Lithuania. Both teachers and students have learnt a lot during the week as they either discovered branches of sports unknown at their school (the Greek) or studied their rules and methods in depth. The Latvian school offers its pupils an awesome sports program, 4 P.E. lessons a week, excellent equipment and nice conditions for both students and teachers. The town of Madona welcomed us with pleasant atmosphere.

See you at the next exchange, in Lithuania, Gelvonai!
